Book Coupons and My Book Fetish

I have a book fetish!

There...I have come out of the closet. I love books. Not just any books, but books on graphic design, computer programming books, cookbooks, diet books, health books, art books and books on saving money.

I love books that teach me something. I enjoy reading about real people and their experiences on building a business, or defeating a disease or saving a buck with a tightwad strategy.

Most fiction books do not interest me. My husband was reading "The Taking" by Dean Koontz. He suggested that I might find it interesting and to give it a try. I started reading and became very agitated within the first ten pages. The author spent three pages just to describe the color and feel of the rain falling from the sky. I handed the book back to him and told him to tell me how it ends. I don't have that kind of time to read how many shades of blue you can use to describe the rain.

I do not spend excessive money on clothes, shoes or jewelry. I save my extra "rainy day allowance" for a special book. The last book I bought was "Frontpage Bible" because I use Frontpage to design my website.

I am wanting to purchase the book "French Women Don't Get Fat", but in a way can't bring myself to shell out money for a book that seems to slap the American woman in the face. I can't help but feel in some small way it is a form of arrogance from the French. I did go to Barnes and Noble and sit for a little while and read the first 50 pages just to see what the book was about. I guess if you want to drink wine from breakfast to dinner this book is for you. I don't think I will be purchasing the book.

The only problem with having a book fetish is space. I have had to buy several oak bookcases to shelve these jewels and it looks like I may be in the market for a few more.

Until tomorrow,
